Happy New Year! My lovely Lemon Drops.
January is upon us and it's all about hitting refresh and making changes. It's about now in the New Year where everyone starts to make resolutions if they haven't made them already. Though if we are being completely honest these resolutions tend to be forgotten or broken by the time Valentine's Day Rolls around if not before. So instead of trying to make big changes why don't we all try making small changes?
One resolution that's normally on everyone's list is to lose weight, I happen to know it's always on my list. So instead of trying to lose weight by starving ourselves or by going on some crazy diet. How about we make weekly small changes to help us toward the goal of losing weight?
An example of making a small change is by one week cutting out all sweets and chocolate. This small change isn't likely to registrar on our radar, and after completing one week of this it will get easier. Then the following week add another small change. Apparently it takes repeating the same thing for 8 weeks for it to become a regular part of the day. So making a small change will eventually become completely natural to you. Now I'm not saying that every once in a while you can't indulge that sweet tooth as long as it is once in a while and not a weekly thing. For example having a small bar of dairy milk or galaxy once a month as a treat. A kind of congratulations to yourself for making it through the month.
I have also read somewhere that it takes a person 4 weeks for them to notice changes in their body, it takes their friends 8 weeks to notice and a whole 12 weeks for the rest of the world to notice. I guess by knowing this what I'm trying to say is don't give up. Keep going because at the end of the day if it's something you really want nothing will stop reaching your goal. Also when it comes to weight loss you have to make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Getting an other half by losing weight isn't a good reason. On the other hand trying to be healthier and feeling better about yourself is a good worthy reason.
Another resolution that is usually on my list is to save money! I think this tends to be on a few peoples list and maybe it will last a couple months but then it tends to go down the drain with the rest of the resolutions.
Now you are probably sat there thinking this lady is crazy how am I suppose to make small changes when it comes to saving money? But I'm going to say this. Saving money doesn't have to be going for cheaper products when buying your shopping. It doesn't have to be pinching pennies when you want to go out. I'm not talking about any of that. What I'm talking about is putting money aside during the month and saving it the old fashioned way. Whether you decide to do this online in a e savings account or whether you prefer to have a money box sat on your side showing you your efforts. I'm going to be following a table to save money this year. In particular the one below.
Now I know this table is in dollars not pounds but I saw this on pinterest and really liked the look of this. I may make my own adjustments to fit around my bills that need paying but I still intend to do this.
So that's jt, those are my tips on making small changes that hopefully last all year instead of going down the drain in January. Let me know in the comments if you would be interested in monthly updates following my progress on this. Don't forget if you want to see anything on my blog this year just ask.
Xx
