New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions, the thing I make every year and end up forgetting before the first month is up! This year I was sat wondering if I should bother going through this again, just to fail yet again. But I have decided to be positive and put a bit more pressure into making my New Years Resolutions. I decided to post them here on my blog and share with all of you guys, that way I have to stick to them. I figure it's a incentive to stick to them in 2014.
So here they are, the 5 things I want to do in 2014.

1) Lose Weight
This gets put in my list evey year but this year I am commited to doing this so I can have a healthier lifestyle!

2) Pass my Theory Test
I know I should be writing get my drivers license but if I can pass a theory rest I have failed multiple times I will be happy! Though if I do end up doing this then you can guarantee that I will be aiming for that license next!

3) Be more concistant with Blogs
Now this is just as much for you guys as it is for me. I want to blog when I say I will. I want to be able to say that you will get a post every Wednesday and that to be true! I am planing to post every Wednesday.

4) Be more social
Now I'm not a hermit or anything by any means, but I am the girl who would rather sit inside reading rather than going out! So I want to change that and spend more time with my friends.

5) Do some charity work
Now this is a total new one for me. I always see things on tv about charity and think maybe I should do something to help. So this year I want to help charities more whether that's spending that little bit more in charity shops or just donating more things to my local charity shops. I may even decide to do some fund raising. Who knows.

So there they are, 5 things I want to try and do over the next 12 months of 2014. I would love to know if you guys have decided to make some New Years Resolutions and what they are.

See you guys in 2014

Gingerbread Men

I don't know about you guys but Christmas isn't complete untili have had some gingerbread! I was so happy this year when I got the chance to make my own this year, which I loved. So these are the things you'll need:
•115g butter (plus extra for greasing)
•450g plain flour (plus extra for dusting)
•2tsp ground ginger
•1tsp ground mixed spice
•2tsp bicarbonate of soda
•100g golden syrup
•115g ligh muscovado sugar
•1 egg lightly beaten

I used an electric fan oven and preheated it to 150oc, but for other ovens you need Gas Mark 3 or 325of. You also need to grease your baking trays.

Fist in a large bowl sift together the flour, ground ginger, ground mixed spice and bicarbonate of soda. Then set it to one side.

Then in a small bowl I beat the egg then set it aside.

In a small saucepan place the butter, golden syrup and muscovado sugar. You will need to mix this on a low heat.

Once melted, pour over the dry ingredients and then add the beaten egg. Mix all the ingredients together to form a dough.

Then wrap it up in cling film, this is so it cools down and becomes less sticky. I left it in the fridge while I did the washing up and got ready for the next step.

Next dust a clean, dry surface with flour and roll out the dough. It says it should be about 3mm thick before you use those cookie cutters. Personally I just rolled it out until I was happy with it!

Then using your chosen cookie cutters to cut out your shape and place them on the greased baking sheet. Then re roll the dough and repeat until you have run out of dough. I left mine in the oven for 7-10 minutes but for the other ovens try 15-20 minutes.

Once cooked allow to cool. Then I placed them on a plate.

I used two different types of writing icing   One normal and the other was chocolate and caramel. Then I also used chocolate and fudge chunks to decorate.

This is when you get to be creative and decorate all your little creations in any way you like.

I got this recipe from the
1001 cookies, cupcakes & other tempting treats  recipe book. Check it out.

My Christmas Wrapping Supplies

Ok so it's a week until Christmas! Is everybody ready and excited? Have you been playing all those gorgeous christmas songs, I know I have!
Ok so I figured I would tell you guys what I like to use when it comes to wrapping those Christmas presents!
First I love to have a selection of wrapping paper including the odd kid themed wrapping paper! I mean let's face it when I wrap a present for my nephew I don't want to use paper that is all pretty I prefer using paper that I know he will love. I love getting loads of different paper as it means people won't get there stuff all wrapped in the same stuff!
Next I love having different colour bows and ribbon. So I can make presents extra special in looking by wrapping ribbon around it and adding a cute bow.
Last but certainly not least I love having sticker labels as they are so cute and usually sparkly.
What I tend to do when it comes to wrapping is sit in front of the tv watching a movie. It usually makes time go quick and if it's a musical you can sing alongat the same time.
Let me know what you use when it comes to wrapping your christmas presents.

Festive Film Friday #1- Santa Suit

Ok so for my first Festive Film Friday I watched a film that was on Channel 5 last night. I saw an advert and it looked quite good so I watched it. It is called The Santa Suit and was released in 2010. It has a running time of 89 minutes, the movie was directed by Robert Vaughn.

The description of the movie is 'Hunter Toys CEO Drake Hunter turned his father's company from a cozy quality manufacturer into a ruthless, profitable business. After denying his staff any festive generosity again, the scrooge is suddenly and magically transformed into Kris Krandall. That forces him to work as a Santa in Norm Dobson's toy store, with weird would be actor Sebastian. Drake reassess his values and priorities in life.' It is a movie the whole family could watch in this festive season.
The cast of this movie includes stars like  Kevin Sorbo, Jodie Dowdall, Derry Robinson and Rosemary Dunsmore. You may recognize the name Kevin Sorbo because he was Hercules and was in Andromeda.
This film is really great for the festive season and defiantly put me in a good mood! This film made me remember that Christmas is a time for giving and helping others. It's not about wish lists, even if they are fun to write! But remember this festive season how great it feels to give someone a present.

My Christmas Wish List!

I've seen this particular post on other blogs but they all posted late November! So I thought I might write one myself!

The first thing on my list would have to be a wall mounted nail polish rack! It would be really nice to display my collection of nail polish on the walls of my bedroom instead of in a bag. I mean think of the ease of picking a colour when painting your nails. I mean you could organise it by colour or light to dark or even both! Though I think I would have to begin with three racks and then purchase more when I eventually ended up buying more!

The next thing on my list is a watch. But not just any watch, it is a Michael Kors mercer chronograph watch with a white leather strap! An odd thing to put on a christmas list but I am in need of a good nice new watch. Truth be told I don't like going out without my watch on. It feels like my wrist is naked! I saw this on the watch shop website and fell in love!

Next one is a bit unrealistic for christmas but it's my list! It is an iPad 2. Not a fancy mini or air but just the normal big one. I figure if I had one I might actually keep on top of writing my posts. Then there is the fact that I kinda like the idea of having. Plus imagine all the shopping apps I could download and use!

Next is a set of makeup brushes but not just any old make up brushes. I would love te real techniques brushes! I have heard great things about these brushes. I would love to try these bad boys out and see if they love up to the hype!

Next is a perfume that I tested out in a shop and fell in love. I must admit I love Vera Wang perfumes and this one is just as good. It is Lovestruck. It's in a gorgeous floral bottle which goes well with the scent.

There are other things that I would have on this list. It's just little things that I would love to try out! There are pieces of make up such as Dior Addict lipgloss, Bare Minerals pretty amazing lip gloss, soap & glory sexy mother pucker lip plumping gloss and Benefit best of Benefit gift set. There is also some body products I would love to check out. They are gifts sets such as Lush think pink gift set and soap & glory bright and bubbly original gift set.

So there it is my christmas wish list. Although the items are defiantly wishful thinking it was fun to do. Let me know in the comments what is on your christmas wish list, your actual one or the wishful thinking one!

How to Remove Glotter Nail Polish

I don't know about you guys but I love wearing a glitter nail polish. What I don't love is trying to take the glitter off! It usually takes ages and never fully comes off. Well I found out about this trick and knew I had to share it.
So you will need the following things:
•Scissors
•Foil
• 10 cotton pads or balls
• Nail Polish Remover.  Acetone or non acetone.
•a Ruler

So here is what you need to do. First you need to cut strips of Foil and you can use the ruler to help with this it is completely optional. You need the foil big enough to go around the top of your finger.
Next you want to put nail polish remover on a cotton pad. Not too much about two upside down shakes of a bottle (if that makes sense to you).
Then place the cotton pad or cotton ball  on your finger and wrap a tin foil strip around it.

So now the easiest part of all, just sit back and relax! You are going to want to leave them on for about 15 minutes but if your using non-acetone nail polish remover you may want to leave it on for 20 minutes.
When it comes to removing these miracle workers for want of a name. Simply press down on the pad and pull to remove. You may find you need to do a quick swipe over with a pad and a little bit of polish remover. There you have it an easy way to remove Glitter nail polish with out soaking your hands in nail polish remover.
I did find it easier when I did this to do one hand at a time but if you want to do both you want to get some help putting the foil on the other hand.

Film Friday #8- Sherlock Holmes

For me this weeks film Friday is one of those films that you don't think you will like, until you end up watching it! The film is Sherlock Holmes which was released in 2009. It has a running time of 2hours and 3 minutes, which flies by!

The description of the film is as follows 'On a quest to solve a string of mysterious and brutal murders, Sherlock Holmes and Watson plunge into a world of dark arts and startling new technologies, where logic, and a good right hook, are the best crime fighting weapons.' In my opinion this film will suit both men and women.
This film was directed by Guy Ritchie and has a host of well known stars. The likes of which include Robert Downey Junior, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong.
For me there are two candidates for the title of 'Film Hunk of the Week'. The winner of this title is Robert Downey Junior! One of the main reasons he won is that you can see him topless and fighting within 20 minutes of the film starting. A something else for you ladies to enjoy is that is not the only time this hunk has no clothes on!

There are two things I know for certain after watching this film: one I definitely want to see the next one. Two I think I might invest in some Sherlock Holmes books.
If you want to know if Robert Downey Junior can win the title of 'Film Hunk of the Week' for the second Sherlock Holme movie. Then make sure you check back next week when I will have my review of the second Sherlock Holmes movie up for your viewing.

Rimmel London Space Dust

I love Rimmel London Nail polish as you probably can tell! Again I have no clue when this line of nail polish came out but I'm glad I know about it now. Again this polish is a bargain at £3.99.

The colour I picked up was 004 Luna Love.  It is a gorgeous pink glitter colour. It is a full glitter Nail Polish. The little glitter flecks are different colours which work really well  in this polish. This nail polish will be great for the party season or when you want to add a little sparkle to your life!

There are only two downsides to this nail polish! First is that visible small chips  can be seen within two days. The other problem isn't really to do with the nail polish itself  No the other problem is to do with removing this very glittery polish.

However never fear because next week I'm going to be showing you some tips when removing glitter nail polish.

I still recommend you guys try out this line of Nail Polish!

Rimmel London Cocktail Colour

So I'm not sure when this line of Nail Polish was released, but I found it in Superdrug's and had to try it out!  All my past experiences with Rimmel nail polish have been good!
One thing I love about this product is that it combines two things I love: Cocktails and Nail Polish! This particular bottle of nail polish was only £3.99, such a bargain!

I picked up the colour Hawaiian Punch. This is a gorgeous reddy pink colour. What I loved about this polish is that the polish have these teeny tiny flecks of sparkle. These flecks make the polish even more sparkly! I also love that in some lights the polish looks even more pink!

The brush for this polish is a good size. it is big enough for you to apply one coat in a single stroke! Which can be time saving!

Overall this is a great polish and will be perfect for the party season, Sadly the only downside is that it does chip quiet easily. After one day, which included a 4 hour shift and a shower, there were small chips right at the tip of the nail.

But either way you should check out this polish. You won't regret it!

Moving Out Series #3- Tips for Saving Money

Welcome to my third and final part of the moving out series. I hope that you guys have found this series useful! In this part of the series I will give you some tips on trying to save those pennies when moving. In my opinion moving out is one of the most expensive things you can do! Now these are just a few things that I found useful while I was moving! So let's get started!

1) Buy Items in Advance
Now this may sound like a bad tip for saving money but let me explain what I mean. As soon as you decide you want to move start looking for things. For example if you are out shopping and see a dinner set on sale and you like it pick it up. Again doesn't sound good for saving money but buying in advance means there is less to spend closer to the time.

2) Take Advantage of Sales
Now this one is pretty self explanatory but if you see a sale advertised go and have a look around it. Remember just because something is in the sale doesn't mean there is something wrong with it!

3) Charity Shops
Now some people have some mixed ideas when it comes to Charity Shops. But just because something is second hand or brought in a charity shop does not mean there is something wrong with it. You can find some great things in these charity shops at a good quality. For example the sofa set in my new flat came from a charity shop. Just remember that all the items in charity shops have more than likely been cleaned before going on the shop floor.

4) Bargain Hunt eg Poundland
Panicking pennies where you can will help in the long run! The stock in shops like Poundland and 99p Store is still good quality. Doing a bargain hunting shop can save you money which you are likely to need once you have moved into the place.

5) Use Supermarkets/Friends to get boxes
By this I mean use them to help when it comes to getting supplies for packing and what not.  Every supermarket will have a number of boxes that there delivery comes in daily. Now these boxes will end up being recycled but you can still use them to pack up your stuff. Ask your friends if they work in shops or Supermarkets to pick up boxes for you I'm sure they won't mind.

6) Compare Prices
Now I'm sure most of you have seen when you do online shopping there is a compare button. Well this is one of the times that you want to take advantage of that feature. Not only that feature but also the multiable tabs feature. Use these to compare all types of things when you shop for your new place. But don't just compare prices online make sure you do it in shops as well.

Finally I just want to say a thank you to everyone who has read this series. It means a lot that you guys read the words I have written.

One final note from me before I let you go and enjoy the rest of your day. Now I know it's too early for some people to talk about Christmas but it is only 42 sleeps away. Throughout December as well as doing my Themed Film Friday for you guys I would love to make these Wednesday Blogs all Christmassy as well. So please get in contact in the comments, on twitter or on the Facebook page and let me know if there is ANYTHING you want to see on this blog in December.

Moving Out Series #2- Top 10 tips when moving (Unpacking and Packing)

So onto the second part of my Moving Out Series is all about packing and unpacking! Now personally I think is one of the biggest parts when it comes to moving! I think this has something to do with putting all your material possessions into boxes.

So onto my tips, the first five is concentrating on packing while the last five will concentrate on unpacking.

Packing
1) Label the boxes with the room name
Now by this I mean put whether the box belongs in the bedroom or the kitchen. This helps you to know where the items go in your new home. It also help when it comes to moving day as the all the items for the kitchen can be found in the Kitchen.

2) Label boxes with the contents
Now I don't mean write a list of every little thing that can be found in this box. What I mean is put a general couple of words on the box so you can easily identify what is in the box. For example if it came from a bedside table, put Bedside Table on the box.

3)  Work in Sections
Now by this I mean work in one part of your current house and pack those items before moving onto the next part. For example you could start in the Kitchen before moving onto the Front Room.

4) Make Lists
Now I don't mean you need a hundred lists. I simply mean make a list of the order in which you want to pack. Or make a list of what you need to pack last. This will keep you organised.

5) Stock up on Supplies
Now this is something I should of done. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of packing and running out of boxes or even tape. It means you have to halt the whole process so you can go out and pick up the supplies.

Unpacking
6) Prioritise
By this I simply mean don't start unpacking books before you unpack your bed, which is what I did. When it comes to unpacking you need to think about what you will need to use first and what is more important than the rest.

7) Go room by Room
This is pretty self explanatory. Simply start a room and finish it before you move onto the next one. This will help with your organisation and it means that once you have unpacked a room you don't need to go back to it.

8) Get rid of your boxes as you go
Now this is something I didn't do, which meant at one point there was a huge pile of boxes by my front door. Also if you get rid of your boxes as you go it means you don't have to do a back and forth run once you have finished unpacking.

9) Take Your Time
Don't rush when it comes to unpacking. Remember there is no deadline. You don't have to have everything unpacked after a week, a month or even three months later. There is NO deadline.

10) Have Fun
Now for me this is the most important tip of all. If you are not having fun while you unpack you are not going to want to do it.  Like Mary Poppins said 'A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.' Now I may have interpreted that wrong but to me it means make something fun and the task wont be so bad anymore.

Do you think I have missed something? Then pop on over to twitter or Facebook (links found on the contact me page) and let me know. Or even leave a comment down below. You never know I might even mention you and your suggestion in the third and Final instalment of the Moving Out Series.

Themed Film Friday #4- Hocus Pocus

I don't know about you guys but the last movie in this themed film Friday is one I try to watch every year! It is none other than Hocus Pocus! This movie was realesed in 1993 and has a running time of 1 hour and 36 minutes.

It was directed by Kenny Ortega who also directed This is it and all three High School Musical movies.
This film comes under the genres comedy, family and fantasy. For those who haven't seen this film, it is all about three witches who have returned from 17th Century Salem to try and reclaim their youth. What they don't see coming is three kids who are determined to stop them!
The stars of this movie include Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Omri Kratz. All of which are amazing in their roles.
All in all this is a great family movie to check out this month. It fits in perfect with Halloween.

Themed Film Friday #3.5 - Toy Story of Terror

Ok so this isn't the film I planned to review and post for this week but since I am in the middle of moving so in haven't actually watched that movie yet but that will be posted next week with the final one!
So onto the this weeks bonus episode of film Friday. This film is a very recently realesed this week and can be found on demand! It's is a very short film with a running time of only 22 minutes and I think it's safe to say this is the shortest film I will ever be featured on this series.  The film is the one and only Toy Story of Terror!

The director of this short film is Angus MacLane. All in all the film made me laugh and is a good animation. It was made just as well as the other Toy Story movies in my opinion.
You can welcome the return of all your favourite voices Tim Allen, Tom Hanks and Joan Cusack.
The films story is awesome and relatable and is all about Jessie over coming her fear and becoming a stronger person or toy, which ever word you choose to use!
This is a definitely a family friendly movie. You guys should seriously check out this short movie!!!

Maybelline Colour Show - Vintage Leather

Ok so you may remember that I did a review on the Maybelline Colour Show Nail Polish, which you can read HERE .
Well I'm not sure when but Maybelline have brought out a sister product. It's a new line of Maybelline Colour Show Nail Polish under the effect of Vintage Leather. It is still at the low price of £2.99, which is great!

The gorgeous nail polish also dries Matte.  For my readers who don't know what that means, it basically means that the polish dries with no shine. This is a good effect especially when paired with a non-matte polish of the same shade in a French manicure design.

But ladies back to the topic at hand, you have to be careful as due to the matte finish it does look dry before it is, though compared to other polishes it does touch dry pretty quick!  What I mean by that is the time on a bottle is actually referring to how long a nail polish takes to be touch dry and enable you to do things without ruining your manicure. Nail polish actually takes 6 hours to dry thoroughly.

There are a few things I must warn you about. The first is that you really need to buff your nails before applying this polish, otherwise it is easy to see the indents in your nails. The second thing is that because of the matte finish I didn't want to use a normal top coat so there were some small chips at the top of the nail. I would recommend investing in a matte finish top coat. They can be found on EBay as well as in Superdrug's.

Overall I did like this polish as well as the matte finish.

Rating: 3.5/5 Lemons

Themed Film Friday #3 - Trick 'r Treat

Ok so this week's themed film Friday was picked due to the title. The film is Trick 'r Treat, a perfect film for this month and theme.

It was directed by Michael Dougherty and was released in 2007 with a running time of 1 hour and 22 minutes. The description of the film is: 'Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween. An everyday school principle has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her' a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a women who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.'

The film fits under the genres comedy, horror and thriller. Now thrillers have never been the kind of films I watch. I found that this film just reminds me why!  Less than 10 minutes in a woman with the same name as me is killed!

The cast includes Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, and Richard Harmon. some names you may recognise and some you won't. Now onto the 'film hunk of the week'. This week the title goes to Jean-Luc Bilodeau who play Schrader. He was also in the Disney movie 16 wishes. If you disagree with my film hunk let me know who you think it should of been.

Overall the film had parts that made me jumped and parts that didn't. Great movie for Halloween but this blogger is glad she didn't watch it at night!

Film Friday #7 - Anna Karenina

This weeks film started off as a novel by Tolstoy and is Anna Karenina. It is quite a long film at 2 hours and 9 minutes. The film was released is 2012 so it isn't that  long but long enough. The director is a Mr Joe Wright who also directed Atonement and the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice.

The film is about a socialite from St Petersburg who risks everything for love. It is set in the late 19th Century Russia.

The cast consists of stars who are all amazing in their own right. The casts consists of  Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Kelly Macdonald to name a few.

Now onto the actor to be named and crowned 'film hunk of the week;. Personally I believe there are two choices for this title but only one can be crowned. This weeks winner won it purely because he was involved in a sex scene  50 minutes in you see him topless and girls he has a nice bare chest. The winner is none other than Aaron Taylor-Johnson. I loved him in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging as a brunette. But he is just as gorgeous as a blonde.

The ending was different than I expected. But if you take only one thing from this move, just remember 'You can't ask why about love.'

Moving Out Series #1- Keep the Stress out while moving out!

So if you follow me on Twitter then you know I am moving out soon. I decided to start this series to help others when it comes to moving. It will consist of 3 posts including this one. It is basically tips about saving money, packing and keeping calm. I'm not an expert but this is simply tips I have found useful.

So lets get started!

This first one is all about keeping the stress out while moving out! I know from experience that moving out isn't very easy or calm.

1) Take a bath!
I know everyone doesn't find  baths relaxing, in that case take a long shower of simply lay down and relax. Personally I love taking a nice long bubble bath and reading a book. It really calms me down. Now keeping calm is important as if you're not calm then that will lead to stress which can show on your skin.

2) Think about what you gain/ benefits
People move out for lots of different reasons! Thinking about those reasons can calm you down. Remember why you are taking this step in your life and what you gain from it.

3) Treat Yourself
This may not be the best time to spoil yourself and I don't mean anything crazy expensive. I mean a bottle of wine or a lush bath bomb. Something that you can enjoy one night while you are winding down.

4) Stay Organised
I have found this key! This may not sound calming but for me knowing exactly how much I have left and how long to do it is helpful!

5) Remember you're not alone!
Out of all of them I'd say this is the most important. Keep in mind people have done this before and survived. Yours friends and family have gone through this. If need be have your very own 'Sex and the City' moment to go through your stuff. Create a game if need be. Make sure you ask friends and family to help because there is a strong possibility that they will say yes, especially if you've already helped them!

Let me know how you are keeping the stress out! I'd love to hear from you guys.

Until Next Time

L'Orèal Telescopic Explosion Mascara Waterproof

Ok Ladies, lets talk mascara! Now I don't know about you guys, but I love the look of my lashes when I have mascara on. They just stand out so well.
The only thing I find with mascara is that the lashes on the outer corner of my eye never seem to stand out as much!

I found this mascara and instantly wanted to try it out. L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara has a small round brush. The mascara boasts about 60% longer lashes and high precision intensity. I'll let you guys decide. In the picture below I have the mascara on the left eye.

Mascara on the Left eye, sorry for the bad close up!

The mascara brush

I found this mascara in Tk-maxx for £3.99. I did look online and find it on the Superdrug website for £10.99. So by all means, check Tk-maxx first! Lets be honest everyone loves a good bargain.

Overall, I do really like this mascara and it definitely was a  great purchase. I love the way my lashes look. The small brush gets to all my lashes, even the ones in the corner. However, due to the full price of this item, I am unsure whether I would repurchase. But if I find it at a bargain price then who knows what the future will hold.

Themed Film Friday #2- Paranorman

So this week's themed film Friday was a response when I asked for some ideas. It is called Paranorman and was released in 2012. it has a running time of 1 hour and 32 minutes and was directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell. This is the first film that is in film Friday which has had two directors!
The description of the film is 'A misunderstood boy takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-up's to save his town from a centuries-old curse.' This is definitely a family friendly movie. This film comes under the genres animation, adventure and comedy.
The voices of this movie include the likes of Anna Kendrick, Kodi Smit-Mcphee, Casey Affleck and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Now I must admit that I had only heard of two of these stars but they are all brilliant in this film.
There is no film hunk this week because frankly non of the animated characters were remotely cute! Plus in my opinion the animation was done in a way that no character would ever be cute.
I really think everyone should check this film out  for Halloween as it's something everyone can watch. Even those who don't like horrors. Plus you never know it might make you laugh!
Until next time
